SG Summer Cocktails

It's that wonderful time of year when patio drinks become a thing (no more -50 degree snow weather!). I mean I love the snow, especially during Christmas but man oh man do I love the sunshine, patios and live music! Whose with me?!

With that being said, this summer has been totally different. I never would have imagined we would be dealing with a pandemic. I often said it feels like we are in some type of weird movie... On the other hand I've become best friends with my own back deck! I purchased a silly little pool (that I totally and completely love) and have been making the most of it! I've made it part of my mission this summer to create some of the classic cocktails and mocktails.

I've been known to just pour a few things in a glass and hope it tastes good (I blame this on my university days...) but what I've been loving is Sangria!

Summer White Sangria:

I love any type of Sangria but if I am having a drink with my mom she only drinks white wine, this is our next one to try:

recipe from: https://www.ambslovesfood.com/summer-white-sangria/

Ingredients

  • 1 LEMON, JUICED
  • 1 LIME, JUICED
  • 1 ORANGE, JUICED

  • 1/4 CUP FINE WHITE GRANULATED SUGAR
  • LEMONADE ICE CUBES
  • SLICES OF LEMONS, LIMES, AND ORANGES

I also absolutely love strawberries and watermelon. To me it doesn't feel like summer without those two things (oh and ice cream sandwiches.. and ice coffee!)

     Minted Orange and Strawberry Coolers:

    INGREDIENTS

    • 2 1/2 cups fresh sliced strawberries
    • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
    • 4 cups Orange Juice
    • 2 lemons, the juice from
    • 1 handful fresh rose petals (optional)
    • 1 cup vodka (optional)
    • sparkling water, for topping

Last but not least is my all time favourite week night beverage..

    Watermelon Mojito Mocktail

    Ingredients
    • 3 cups chopped watermelon
    • juice of 2 limes
    • 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
    • 4 fresh mint leaves
    • crushed ice
    • ginger ale
    • club soda

These drinks have been so much fun to make.. I am still learning to add my own little twists to them. Do you have a favourite summer cocktail? I am usually a beer girl (my current favourite being Storytellers)  but these cocktails have been a blast to make and enjoy with my social bubble!
